Are you struggling with feelings of anxiety, depression, self-doubt or burnout? Do you feel like you are stuck in a rut? Have you been struggling to manage your emotions? Are you arguing more frequently with your partner, family or friends? Would you like to gain more self-awareness and mastery over your emotions and communicate better with loved ones? Are you looking for better support in your recovery?

People seek out therapy for a variety of reasons. Some are starting therapy for the first time, while others are returning for a tune-up. Whether you choose to engage in therapy for a short or long period of time, the benefits of therapy are worth the investment. It is dedicated time you give yourself to process complicated emotions, to challenge and reframe negative patterns of thinking and behaving, and to work through issues draining your energy and blocking your creativity.

Couples therapy is joint counseling for you and your romantic partner. The goal of joint sessions is to facilitate healthy communication and to identify harmful patterns of relating in the relationship. Working together, I will help both of you develop better listening and communication skills to deepen your connection. If you are experiencing tension or disconnection in your relationship, are having issues related to sex, intimacy and fidelity, or would like to deepen your emotional connection to your partner, couples counseling might be right for you.

I work with both heterosexual-identifying and LGBTQ(IA+) identifying couples.

Group therapy is a rewarding experience because you will get to meet with a small group of like-minded individuals with similar issues. Group therapy provides an opportunity to share your story with others who may have gone through similar experiences. The main benefit of group therapy is it decreases isolation and feelings of shame, and it increases self-confidence and self-esteem. Helping others is a powerful way to heal the self. Being part of a therapy group can make you feel less alone and help you feel more connected to others.

Please contact me at staci@riverandstonecounseling.com to inquire about any groups offered at this time.

As a Prepare/Enrich Facilitator, I am able to provide couples who are thinking about getting engaged or married an assessment of their relationship and gain the skills to make their relationship even stronger as they transition from dating to seriously committed and/or married. The Pre-Marital Counseling Program consists of one 60-minute initial session and twelve 45-minute pre-marital counseling sessions. Some couples may opt instead to complete the program in six 90-minute sessions. Couples can complete the program at their pace, though it is recommended to complete it within 3 months to 1 year.

At the completion of the pre-marital counseling program, couples will receive a Certificate of Completion that they can submit to their officiant, minister, priest, imam or rabbi prior to their wedding as proof of having received thorough pre-marital counseling.

The pre-marital counseling program is designed to be educational and supportive, and is not designed to address more serious issues, such as infidelity or abuse in the relationship. If issues arise during the pre-marital counseling program that indicate a need for more intensive counseling, you may be advised to postpone your wedding and seek couples therapy until serious issues are resolved.
